(English version below) Registrati durante il suo concerto in Germania, i quattro brani live di Alex Henry Foster — di cui due completamente inediti — restituiscono il senso di sospensione emotiva che nasce quando ci si ritrova in un limbo tra quiete e tempesta, tra sogni da inseguire e realtà da affrontare. Un momento che sembra sfuggire al tempo stesso, fluttuando tra un maelstrom promettente e un presente distopico.
Parlando dell’album, Foster lo descrive così: “A Nightfall Ritual si riferisce a ogni istante in cui definiamo la natura della nostra fede e della nostra disperazione nei colori dei mattini a venire.”
L’album rappresenta il ritorno in grande stile di Foster e della sua band, The Shadows, con un muro sonoro stratificato, viscerale, carico di tensione e intensità emotiva. Una rinascita artistica e personale, dopo un intervento chirurgico d’urgenza al cuore che lo ha tenuto lontano dal palco per oltre due anni.
“A Nightfall Ritual” è atteso per l’autunno e si preannuncia come un lavoro potente, denso, e spiritualmente carico — l’ennesima conferma del talento narrativo e musicale di Foster.
Il nuovo singolo “I’m Afraid” sarà disponibile da venerdì 21 marzo, pubblicato da Hopeful Tragedy Records.

Biografia – Alex Henry Foster
Alex Henry Foster è un musicista, autore, produttore e compositore canadese, ex frontman della band post-rock/noise Your Favorite Enemies (YFE), nominata ai Juno Awards.
Celebrato da Rolling Stone Magazine come “artista DIY imprevedibile”, ha pubblicato il suo primo album solista, Windows in the Sky, in Canada nel 2018 e a livello globale nel 2020. Un lavoro nato durante un esilio interiore a Tangeri, in seguito alla morte del padre, definito da NME come “un’esplosione onirica di post-rock”.
Attivista per i diritti umani, Foster ha collaborato con Amnesty International e War Child, e ha fondato The Hope Project dopo lo tsunami di Tōhoku del 2011. Ha trascorso gran parte del 2024 in tour in Europa e America, prima di tornare a Tangeri per lavorare a nuove produzioni.
🇬🇧 Alex Henry Foster releases four live tracks from Cologne concert ahead of upcoming album “A Nightfall Ritual”
Cologne, Germany – July 27, 2024. Captured during his emotionally-charged performance, the four live tracks — including two unreleased songs — immerse the listener in a surreal sense of emotional suspension, a floating space between peaceful stillness and visceral release, between hope and dystopia.
Reflecting on the album, Foster says:
“A Nightfall Ritual refers to every moment with which we define the nature of our faith and hopelessness in the colors of mornings to come.”
This album marks Foster’s powerful return to the stage with his band, The Shadows, offering a rich, layered wall of sound filled with dramatic honesty and fervent musicality. It follows a life-threatening heart surgery that kept the artist away from music for over two years.
Due this fall, A Nightfall Ritual promises an intense, sonically immersive universe—an honest, soul-deep experience.
The new single “I’m Afraid” is set to release this Friday, March 21, via Hopeful Tragedy Records.

Alex Henry Foster – Bio
Alex Henry Foster is a Canadian musician, author, producer, and composer, formerly frontman of post-rock/noise band Your Favorite Enemies, nominated for a Juno Award.
Dubbed an “unforeseen DIY artist” by Rolling Stone Magazine, he released his debut solo album Windows in the Sky in 2018 in Canada and globally in 2020. Written during a self-imposed exile in Tangier after the passing of his father, the record is a “dreamy blast of post-rock” (NME), reminiscent of Hammock, Asche & Spencer, Mogwai, and Explosions in the Sky.
A fierce human rights advocate, Foster has collaborated with Amnesty International and War Child, and founded The Hope Project following the 2011 Tōhoku tsunami. He spent most of 2024 touring across Europe and North America, before returning to Tangier for the next chapter of his creative journey.
